Miracle Worker is secular prayer. The word "prayer" is used here because it immediately conveys to most people what it is all about. If it seems strange to you to think of prayer other than to a deity, consider the example of the Buddhists. Prayer is much more central to Buddhists than it is to Christians and they have been praying for five hundred years longer than Christianity has even existed. There is no god in Buddhism, Buddha is the great teacher.

Even people who use affirmations (a form of secular prayer) as a psychological self help tool, swear by these pseudo prayers and claim that they change much more than just their personal habits. Proper affirmations work on deeper principles, not just wishing, and are capable of attracting many things to the affirmer. Prayers are looked at as being even more pervasive, like affirmations on steroids. Prayer like any tool must be employed properly to get the desired results.
